Re: New treatment for bowel cancer?

Can I just add to this discussion by saying that as well as doing the poo test every 2 years you should also be aware of any physical feelings, however small, and have them checked. I had been doing the test for years and every time I was relieved to get the all clear letter. So when I had slight di...

Re: Lung function after chemo

I had a scan 2 weeks ago which was clear, nothing abnormal showing anywhere. This was the same as the one I had 9 months ago before my operation. I was prescribed the 12 sessions of chemo because the biopsy showed that one lymph node was affected. The oncologist said it was just precautionary to mak...

Re: Lung function after chemo

Thank you for the input folks. I will ask my oncologist before taking anything. Like goldenoldie I had the hot needles shoot up my fingers when I touched anything cold so wore gloves to get stuff out of the fridge. My onc always asked before each session about it but I didn't experience the neuropat...

Re: Lung function after chemo

Thank you for replying to my post. I can report that my lungs are a lot better and I don't have a coughing fit every time I walk anywhere. I'm not up to running a marathon yet but it's early days. But since finishing the chemo I am now experiencing peripheral neuropathy, mostly in my fingers, but ha...

Lung function after chemo

It's now 3 weeks since my final chemo session (number 12). My taste buds seem to be recovering though food still tastes less than appetizing but I start coughing whenever I take any exercise or breathe deeply. I am only doing a half hour walk every afternoon, nothing strenuous, and really struggle t...

Re: Cost of Cancer in France

My médecin traitant obtained the 100% cover from CPAM for me and I received a letter from them. It shows on my carte vitale at the pharmacie, hospital, laboratory, taxi/ambulance etc. so I have never had to pay anything since my diagnosis. My mutuelle has not been involved. I would ask your doctor a...

The new hospital at Carcassonne

It was opened last year to replace the old one near the city. It is set in countryside outside of Carcassonne with excellent road access. I had an operation for colon cancer there in July and am now having my chemo sessions every 2 weeks. I cannot praise it enough, lovely en-suite rooms, excellent s...

Thanks for posting this Karen. As someone going through chemo for colon cancer at the moment I will follow the trial as it progresses.

Re: Folfox

Yes that was my thinking too. I had read all the possible side effects which included skin rashes and thought it was just another unpleasant thing to get through. Anyway the oncologist said it was an allergic reaction to something else, in fact the flu jab I had a few days before. I deliberately ask...

Re: Folfox

Thank you for the reply Penny. I am going to my next session in the morning so will show him. The nurse came this morning to do my blood test and she said I should have shown my own doctor. I did with the mouth ulcers last time and she gave me a mouth wash which helped. I will make sure I report any...
