Re: Travel Insurance

Hi, Penny, thanks for the reply. I am currently in the middle of chemo which appears to be reducing the tumours in both liver and lungs. So that's positive news. The team at the hospital have been fantastic so I certainly feel that I'm getting the best treatment. Following your advice, I have looked...

Travel Insurance

I was diagnosed with secondaries to the lungs and liver earlier this year following a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2009. I am currently having chemo every two weeks. I would like to go to England during the Christmas school holidays and was wondering if anyone has any experience of finding travel i...

Re: new member breast cancer

Hi Dubs, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I too have had breast cancer so can understand what you are going through. As you are in Agen, I am not sure which hospitals serve that area. I am in the Bordeaux area and when I was diagnosed I didn't know which hospital to use so went along with my ...

Re: Living wih aches and pains after breast cancer

Hi Biggles, I can completely sympathise with you. I was diagnosed in 2009, had mastectomy and had reconstruction in 2010 and I still suffer with quite a lot of discomfort. I have quite a few areas around arm and chest which have no feeling and other areas which can be quite uncomfortable at times if...

Re: Breast Reconstruction

Hi Sue, I had a delayed LD reconstruction with implant. I presume you will have seen this type of reconstruction on English sites. And as I can gather, they offer pretty much the same types of reconstructions here as in the UK. It obviously very much depends on your situation, everyone is different....

Re: newly diagnosed

Hi Lahlah, My french is quite good generally but I still found it very helpful to have my husband with me for the early appointments. He often caught things that the doctor's said that I didn't. He also took notes which we could refer to afterwards. So I would definitely suggest you have someone wit...

Re: newly diagnosed

Hi Lahlah, I am actually in the Bordeaux area but believe that treatment throughout France is good. As Biggles said it must be a double whammy that your diagnosis came just before your holiday. I had to cancel a holiday because of my diagnosis too but once treatment was over we made a point of havin...

Re: newly diagnosed

Hi Lahlah, Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I too was diagnosed with breast cancer over 2 years ago and underwent surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and reconstructive surgery. You are still in shock at the moment and it will take time and alot of support to help you come to terms with your diagnosis. But...

Re: Chemotheraphy Side Effects

Hi Silversurfer, sorry to hear you're having so much pain. I was on Avastin for a year as part of a clinical trial and the main side-effects I experienced were nose bleeds. I had them every time I blew my nose. But they soon stopped when the treatment stopped. I also found my gums bled more often. I...

Re: Single mum with cancer

Hi Nicola, Really sorry to hear about your situation. It must be very difficult for you being on your own with teenage children! I thought I would post because I live just outside Bordeaux and was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. I received all my treatment in Bordeaux which included a ma...
