Touchlines September 2012

Post by pennycsf » Sun Sep 02, 2012 10:25 pm

This year sees the Tenth Anniversary of CSF in France and there will be celebrations by all the associations. Have a look at Touchlines to see what is happening near you.

You will also find some useful information by Dr Sue Murphy in her "Medical Roundup" about exercise and cancer, as well as some books in the Book Review section on a similar theme.

Finally, there is a item about Maggie Keswick Jencks (p.9), her own fight with cancer, her response and the establishment, after her death, of "Maggie's Centres" to support people with cancer. This short article inspired me to read more about Maggie. Here is a quote from "Maggie's" website, you will find the link here ... 236#p1236:
Maggie's is about empowering people to live with, through and beyond cancer by bringing together professional help, communities of support and building design to create exceptional centres for cancer care.

Maggie’s Centres are for anyone affected by cancer. They are places where people are welcome whenever they need us – from just being diagnosed, or undergoing treatment, to post-treatment, recurrence, end of life or in bereavement.

We also welcome family and friends, as they are often deeply affected by cancer too. We know that those who love and look after someone with cancer can feel just as frightened, vulnerable and uncertain.
It is turning to autumn here in the south of France, ideal for a quiet read of Touchlines!
