Improved diagnosis through MRI scanning

Postby pennycsf » Fri Jan 20, 2017 7:11 pm

MRI scans for suspected prostate cancer could improve diagnosis
A recent study published in the Lancet has shown that using MRI scans to detect prostate cancer may save unnecessary biopsies and also pick up aggressive cancers which need treatment. At the moment, biopsies are taken randomly which may mean that the cancer is missed. More importantly, it will avoid unnecessary invasive procedures which can have lasting effects whether or not cancer is diagnosed.
