Attending the Congress was a great experience. If you are interested in what happened generally, then have a look at this link which takes you to a round up of events.

As I was there for CSF, I concentrated on the sessions which related mainly to patient and family issues. With more people now living with cancer, the emphasis on after care is becoming increasingly important. There was little on offer from the medical community on family support, but much research is being done to help patients who have survived. Interestingly, in poorer countries, there are more family support groups. This is mainly because there is a lack of medical support and the family steps in to fill the gap. In the wealthier countries where treatment is more sophisticated, the patient is 'cured' or 'in remission' and drops out of the support system. It is this which is now being addressed.

Here is the presentation made by the CSF team.
