I ask because my husbands prof rang to say, I am starting you on combo chemo next week for 4 months, if it doesnt work then we will re visit symptom control as there is no other treatment.
No meeting, no discussion, no mention of side effects, no talk of prognosis with or without, no offer of any support services.
chemo to be done at home.
went to see our gp, she had received no scan results or letter, folder is out of date by 3months.
The support group for my husbands cancer, apted, who you have to pay 23euros a year to be in! recently attended a national day for oncologie nurses, so I contacted them and asked how we could find one to assist my husband during his chemo, answer see your gp.
so we did , answer we don't have any in this area.
So how can we make sure that the plan is being followed.
I have been told I am guilty of harassing when I chase anything up.
Is my husband really just meant to roll over, if he had he wouldn't be here as Vannes hospital had no idea how to treat him!
Have you tried the Ligue Contre le Cancer here or are you not confident enough in the language? There's a centre here in Le Mans with a whole raft of support services, including a through the night councelling option via the web. Sounds really grim where you are. Bon courage to you both.
*Edit - in fact I see that Evaniers has already mentioned him in the gp thread!
It's odd though because my gynae', who did all my surgery and who does all my follow-ups (follows-up?) was quite surprised that the onc' had not written one thing on my plan - at least you have one! But I did get a lot more peripheral support than you o/h sounds as though he is getting from this one post.
